The Seattle Seahawks would actually be the perfect landing spot for Baker Mayfield in a trade.

With the 2022 NFL Draft a thing of the past, the Seattle Seahawks could look to add to their growing quarterback room by orchestrating a trade with the Cleveland Browns for Baker Mayfield.

Given that the Browns have traded for the controversial Deshaun Watson and added Jacoby Brissett as an elite backup/stop-gap in free agency, Mayfield’s days in Cleveland are over. It’s cool, as everyone knows it. Though other teams could potentially be in the market to trade for Mayfield, here is why him going to Seattle makes some sense. There is a lot of upside to possibly doing so.

Here are three reasons why Mayfield could be the ideal stop-gap starter for the 2022 Seahawks.

3. The Seattle Seahawks’ receiving corps is a criminally underrated one

Seattle may have had a down year a season ago, but had Russell Wilson not been traded to the Denver Broncos, there was a chance the 2022 Seahawks could have been playoff viable. Even though they might still be one of the worst teams in football, they are not completely devoid of talent. In fact, they have an excellent receiving corps, and a criminally underrated one at that.

Assuming DK Metcalf returns on the final year of his rookie contract, Seattle has a pretty interesting trio for a quarterback like Mayfield to rifle the pigskin to: Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and new tight end Noah Fant. Should second-year pro D’Wayne Eskridge kick it up a level, this receiving corps will get even better. All it will take is for Mayfield to build a strong rapport with one target.

Ultimately, the cupboard is not as bare as one would think in the remote outpost tucked away in the Pacific Northwest. Though the Seahawks have a bad reputation along the offensive line, Mayfield has shown he can get the ball out quickly if allowed to do his thing in a spread attack. Seattle may not be willing to let him cook, but if the Seahawks let Baker bake, then that will do.

If Mayfield can sling it around like he did while at Oklahoma, then everybody will be getting paid.
