What’s the latest situation for the London area?
The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) reported 30 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday and no additional deaths.
There were 39 additional cases of the Delta variant confirmed in the region since Monday. There have now been 406 Delta variant cases confirmed since late May.
The MLHU posted 34 recoveries, with 245 known active cases in the region. The rolling seven-day average of daily cases is at 26.
London Health Sciences Centre says it is treating 13 patients with COVID-19-related illnesses. There are five or fewer patients in critical care.
Fewer than five staff members at the hospital network have tested positive and are in quarantine.
More than 75 per cent of eligible residents are double-vaccinated
The MLHU says over 75 per cent of the region’s population aged 12 and up are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19. There have now been over 717,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines administered in the region.
“Even though we’ve crossed the 75 per cent threshold, that’s still not enough coverage among our population to keep ourselves and our most vulnerable safe this fall and winter,” said Dr. Chris Mackie, the region’s medical officer of health. “There’s still work to do.”
The health unit is hosting two pop-up clinics on Wednesday, including:
- Masonville Place, first floor near mall entrance 3, available until 7 p.m.
- Dundas Place – Market Lane, between Dundas and Covent Market Place, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
A second clinic will be available at Masonville Place on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
