Florida football message boards waste no time replacing Billy Napier with Urban Meyer

It’s only the first game of the season, and one Florida Gators fan on a message board wants the school to fire head coach Billy Napier.

The Florida Gators massively underperformed last football season, leading to the university firing Dan Mullen. In the offseason, the team hired Billy Napier, then the head coach of the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns, to replace Mullen. Napier’s first game was scheduled for Sept. 3 against the Utah Utes, the seventh-ranked team in the country entering the season.

Even though the season just started, one Florida football fan took to the message boards to declare that they have seen enough from Napier. This user already has a replacement in mind — Urban Meyer.

Florida football message boards already want Billy Napier fired

This is not the first time that someone on the Florida football message boards wanted Napier fired.

Well Meyer did coach for a Florida football team…the Jacksonville Jaguars. It went…poorly. As in 13 games and fired poorly due to the play on the field and the controversies off of it. Now, he is back at FOX Sports as part of the Big Noon Kickoff broadcast.

Of course, Meyer rose to football prominence during his run as Gators head coach. In six years, Meyer accumulated a 65-15 record, went 4-1 in bowl games, and won two BCS National Championships.

Napier had success as head coach of the Louisiana football program. In his four years, he led the Ragin’ Cajuns to four Sun Belt West division titles and consecutive Sun Belt titles in 2020 and 2021. In fact, Louisiana was ranked as high as No. 15 in 2020 and No. 16 in 2021 by the AP.

It is just one game into the Napier era against a top 10 team in the country heading into the season. Give it some time.
