NBA stars LeBron James and Kevin Durant were in awe of Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams’ performance against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The first Thursday Night Football game of the 2022 season featured an AFC West matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers. The last time these teams met, they went into overtime and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce had a lengthy catch-and-run walk-off touchdown. There is always going to be a player who stands out in what are usually exciting games between the Chiefs and Chargers.

In this game, one player who stood out was Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams, who was the team’s top wideout with Keenan Allen ruled out with a hamstring injury. One of the many catches WIlliams had that should already a contender for catch of the year is his underhanded touchdown reception in the third quarter that extended the Chargers’ lead to 17-7.

Williams caught the attention of many fans who were watching Thursday Night Football. He also received some huge praise from NBA stars LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

That 10-point lead following the Williams touchdown disappeared. The Chiefs cut the deficit to 17-14 on an incredible 41-yard touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes to Justin Watson in the third quarter. Matt Amendola officially tied the game after making a 19-yard field goal. Then, the Chiefs took the 24-17 lead after rookie cornerback Jaylen Watson intercepted Justin Herbert and returned it 99-yards for the go-ahead touchdown.

Despite the result of the game, Williams created some new fans after the performance he had in Week 2.
