NFL Twitter can’t believe the Eagles built the 2021 Georgia Bulldogs defense

All Howie Roseman does as the Philadelphia Eagles general manager is try to recreate the historic 2021 Georgia Bulldogs defense.

When in doubt, draft more Dawgs!

That is exactly the team-building philosophy whole-heartedly adopted by a former Florida Gator in Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman. It may pain him to no end, but he knows! Georgia is just better than everybody else, so if you want to be better than everybody else in the NFL, you need more Dawgs. The Pittsburgh Steelers are buying into this draft philosophy as well.

So when the Eagles traded up near the top of the fourth round to select defensive back Kelee Ringo, the internet lost its collective mind!

Ringo was the third star defensive player Philadelphia took this spring. Defensive tackle Jalen Carter fell into their lap at No. 9, while edge rusher Nolan Smith capped off a very nice Thursday evening by joining his UGA teammate in Philly at No. 30. Last year, the Eagles used their first-round pick on defensive tackle Jordan Davis and their third-round pick on linebacker Nakobe Dean.

I sense the Atlanta Falcons are losing members of their fanbase in droves to a conference rival…

Philadelphia Eagles will draft every member of the 2021 Georgia defense

Not to say that what Kirby Smart’s team did two years ago will perfectly translate to the NFL, but you cannot deny the value in having baked-in chemistry. The Eagles already have a strong football culture from ownership on down, but to inject something transcendent and historically special from the college ranks, that’s not a bad idea. Believe me, we have seen way worse over the years…

At some point today, we should expect for Roseman to try to draft Uga X. Que may have just retired from being the best live mascot on earth, but does he really want to be an Eagle? I gotta be honest with you, I’m watching my phone carefully to see if a Philadelphia area code pops up and wants to talk for me. I’ll bark at people while pumping gas and simultaneously hating myself there.

Furthermore, this is about to be one of the greatest experiments we have ever seen in the NFL. I hope it works out for them, but I would be such a shame for this to blow up in their face like it did for the Jon Gruden Clemson Raiders. At least Roseman knows how to navigate a draft board and won’t give up an arm and a leg to reach on someone like Clelin Ferrell with the No. 4 overall pick.

Ultimately, the rich are getting richer. The NFC is down compared to the AFC, but I would be legitimately shocked if the Eagles are not playing for the right to go to Super Bowl 58 in Las Vegas this February. We know that these Dawgs are never afraid of the big moment. The bigger question is about how Sirianni addresses losing both of his star coordinators to other franchises this offseason.

For a city that doesn’t care about college football, Philadelphia is a second home for Dawg Nation.
