PFL Playoffs: Anthony Pettis vs. Stevie Ray weigh-in results

PFL 7: Anthony Pettis vs. Stevie Ray 2 weigh-in results.

The 2022 PFL Playoffs begin on Friday, Aug. 5, at the Hulu Theatre at Madison Square Garden, New York, NY. The first playoffs will be the lightweights and light heavyweights. The top four fighters in each weight class will compete to determine who will be the two finalists in line for their respective 2022 championships and $1 million prize.

Headlining the card are lightweights Anthony Pettis and Stevie Ray, facing off in a rematch of their June 24 fight. The bout saw Ray pull off a rare, modified twister over Pettis in the second round. Pettis and Ray are the No. 1. and No. 4 seeds, earning 6 and 5 points, respectively. Both enter the playoffs having gone 1-1 in the season with Pettis defeating Myles Price via first-round triangle and Ray losing to fellow semifinalist Alexander Martinez via unanimous decision.

The other lightweight playoff bout will be Olivier Aubin-Mercier taking on Alexander Martinez. The No. 2 and No. 3 seeds went 2-0 in the regular season with both scoring two decisions for six points each. Aubin-Mercier defeated 2-time PFL lightweight champ, Nate Schulte, via spilt decision and last year’s champion, Raush Manfio, via unanimous decision. Martinez defeated Ray via unanimous decision and Clay Collard via split decision.

Robert Wilkinson takes on Delan Monte in one of two light heavyweight playoff bouts. Wilkinson, the No.1. seed at light heavyweight, had an impressive regular season scoring 11 points with second and first-round TKOs over Bruce Souto and Viktor Pesta, and is the favorite to win the title. His opponent Monte went 1-1 in the regular season, losing to last year’s light heavyweight champion, Antonio Carlos Jr. via first-round submission, then beating Emiliano Sordi, the 2019 champion, via first-round TKO to get six points.

The other light heavyweight bout will see Omari Akhmedov face off against Josh Silveira. Akhmedov had a strong season with a record of 2-0. He defeated Viktor Pesta via first-round KO and Teodoras Aukstuolis via arm triangle in the second round to gain 11 points and the No. 2 seed. His opponent Silveira is replacing would-be semifinalist Antonio Carlos Jr., who pulled out of the tournament with an ACL injury last month. Silveira, the son of celebrated MMA coach Conan Silveira, entered the regular season late due to his own injury and fought just once, earning six points by defeating Marthin Hamlet via first-round TKO.
