Terence Crawford was back on dad duty this week, cheering on his daughter at an athletics meet in Iowa just days after beating Errol Spence Jr in Las Vegas.

The 35-year-old cemented his place as the best boxer in the world with a stunning victory over Spence on Saturday night.

A few days on from that win at T-Mobile Arena, Crawford was 1,500 miles away from the Strip for his eight-year-old daughter’s race.

Talaya was racing at Drake University in Iowa – not far from Crawford’s hometown of Omaha, Nebraska – and her father was in the crowd.

In a video posted on his Instagram, Crawford could be heard shouting for ‘Laylay’ on as she crossed the line.

Sporting talent runs in the family, with the eight-year-old a very promising athlete.

Talaya recently won three gold medals at the Cornhusker State Games, securing first place in the 100m, 200m and 400m dash in July.

Last year, the youngster lost her shoe at the start of a 200m race but still had time to run back and put it on before winning with ease.

Crawford had little trouble with Spence on Saturday night either, putting in a performance for the ages in Las Vegas.

In a highly-anticipated battle between the two best welterweights of this era, Crawford dropped Spence three times before stopping him in the ninth round.

The victory meant Crawford became the first male boxer – in the four-belt era – to become undisputed champion in two weight divisions.

After the fight, Bud said the dominant win cemented his place as the best fighter in the world and puts him among the greatest of all time.

‘I’m up there,’ he said. ‘I always want to pay homage to the fighters that came before me… it isn’t my job to put me where I want to be, it’s your job to put me where I belong.’

On whether he was now boxing’s pound-for-pound king, he said: ‘Without a doubt… I get to say I told you so.’
