Britain’s Hannah Russell held off the problem of Russian Daria Pikalova to retain her S12 100m backstroke title on the Tokyo Paralympics.

Russell gained in a time of 1 minute 8.44 seconds – 0.32 forward of her fast-finishing rival.

The 25-year-old, competing in her third Video games, took a break after profitable two golds in Rio to cope with psychological well being points.

However she has returned stronger to win Britain’s eighth gold of the Video games.
