The 2022 PGA Championship will be played at a familiar golf course this upcoming weekend.

With The Masters Tournament firmly in the rearview mirror, the PGA Championship will be at the forefront of the golfing world this weekend.

Though long seen as the fourth most popular of the golf majors on the PGA Tour, the PGA made the incredibly smart decision to move this one up to second in the rotation behind only The Masters to add further intrigue to the event. As with all of the majors on the PGA Tour outside of The Masters, the PGA Championship is played at different courses around the country every year.

Fate would have it, the PGA Championship will be played at the place synonymous with the event.

PGA Championship 2022 location?

This year’s golf tournament will take place at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This private 27-hole golf course first opened in 1936. The land was donated by notable oilman Waite Phillips of Phillips 66 fame. Southern Hills was designed in to have the feel of an English country manor. Tulsa may be a world away from the United Kingdom , but what is to stop Dr. Manhattan?

Has Southern Hills hosted the PGA Championship before?

To date, Southern Hills has hosted this golf tournament four times, most recently in 2007 when Tiger Woods won it. It is the only golf course to hold the event four times. Once tee time occurs on Thursday morning, it will make it five times at Southern Hills. This nearly century-old golf course has also hosted the U.S. Open three times, most recently in 2001 when Retief Goosen won it.

Where is the 2023 PGA Championship?

Next year’s golf major will take place at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York from May 15 to May 21, 2023. This will mark the fourth time this particular golf major was played at Oak Hill, most recently in 2013 when Jason Dufner won the event. The pristine country club in Western New York has also been home to three U.S. Opens, but none more recent than back in 1989.
