PFL featherweight Boston Salmon is the fighter to keep your eyes on at 2022 PFL 2.
PFL featherweight Boston Salmon is on the road to redemption after not living up to his early hype during his time in the UFC.
Salmon will face Sheymon Moraes on Thursday night at PFL 2. He earned a spot in the league after an impressive finish over Do Gyeom Lee during the inaugural PFL Challenger Series.
Salmon made his professional MMA debut in 2014 in RFA, winning five straight before a controversial split decision loss to Zac Riley at RFA 43. Despite suffering the first loss of his career, he attracted the attention of UFC president Dana White, who brought him on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2017.
Salmon would seize the moment, earning a unanimous decision win over the eventual The Ultimate Fighter: 29 bantamweight winner Ricky Turcios. The win would earn him a contract in the UFC, with plenty of high hopes as he got ready to enter the bantamweight division.

Salmon would then have three different fights canceled, with one of them against Raoni Barcelos getting called off after Salmon suffered a knee injury. He would be sidelined for nearly two years before making his UFC debut against Khalid Taha.
After falling to Taha in just 25 seconds, he would suffer a first-round knockout to Randy Costa in Oct. 2019. He would then be let go by the UFC without earning a win in the octagon.
Salmon bounced back amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, getting a shot in LFA and earning a win via disqualification against Shawn West. Nearly two years later, he would get a chance on PFL’s Challenger Series and earn a win via corner stoppage against Lee.
Salmon will face a tough test in his PFL debut against Moraes. But if he’s able to earn a third-straight victory, he could get off to a great start towards potentially chasing the featherweight title and the $1 million grand prize.
