Major League Baseball has two of worst teams in the league on display for tonight’s Field of Dreams Game. Which three teams would’ve been a better choice?

Major League Baseball will have the sports world abuzz tonight as the Field of Dreams Game takes center stage from Dyersville, Iowa at 7 PM ET. The Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago Cubs will go head-to-head with hopes of one-upping last year’s contest between the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox.

Wait a minute! The Reds? The Cubs? What the heck is going on? Two of the worst teams in the league will be occupying a primetime spot on national television? Sure, the Reds are the oldest professional sports franchise in America, and the Cubs have a tremendous fanbase and have been around for over a century, but c’mon.

Obviously, MLB couldn’t have predicted that the Reds would have a fire sale this past spring by trading away players like Sonny Gray, Jesse Winker, and Eugenio Suarez. The Cubs began their rebuild last summer by trading World Series heroes Javier Baez, Anthony Rizzo, and Kris Bryant.

Yes, Joey Votto still plays first base for the Reds and Willson Contreras wasn’t dealt at this year’s trade deadline, so at least there’s a little star power taking the field tonight. But you have to imagine that Major League Baseball would have preferred to have a better matchup than one featuring two teams that are a combined 88-130 (.403).

So which teams would have made for a better on-field product during tonight’s Field of Dreams Game? Let’s look at three teams that would’ve added a bit more entertainment and intrigue to the festive atmosphere in Iowa.
