The ACC tournament tips off on Tuesday afternoon with Georgia Tech taking on Florida State in Greensboro, North Carolina.
It’s been a shockingly poor season for Florida State, who limps into the ACC Tournament at 9-22 on the year and losers of six of seven. They face a Georgia Tech team that they beat way back on January 7th at home, but are in much better form of late, winners of six of eight.
Will the Yellow Jackets stay hot and end the Seminoles season? Let’s check out the odds for the ACC tournament opener:
Georgia Tech vs. Florida State odds, spread and total
Georgia Tech vs. Florida State prediction and pick
This number opened as a pick ’em but money has poured in on the Yellow Jackets, who are now two point favorites. I agree with the market movement towards Josh Pastner’s bunch and think they are in line for a first round victory.
The Yellow Jackets take three’s at the highest rate in the ACC and there has been no worse defense at defending the perimeter than the Seminoles, who allowed teams to shoot 40% from beyond the arc in league play.
Since February 1st, the gap between these two teams are massive as Georgia Tech has shown competence on the offensive side of the ball, ranking 23rd nationally in turnover rate and 57th in three-point percentage, while Florida State has been out of sorts on both sides of the floor.
I can’t look past the recent form of each team in a game that is being lined like a competitive matchup, and all signs are pointing me towards the Yellow Jackets in the tourney opener.
