- Pineda was revealed as Matthews’ mystery opponent just before the fight

Ed Matthews was knocked out of the ring in his defeat to mystery opponent Luis Pineda in the main event of the Misfits 12 card in Leeds.
Pineda was revealed as Matthews’ opponent just before the fight started, as the latter rolled the dice by headlining the event on late notice against an unknown opponent.
The Mexican was also a mystery opponent at a Misfits card last January in a surprise return after his defeat to KSI.
Matthews would still have been considered as the favourite, but in the first round he was floored by Pineda.
Pineda then stopped Matthews in the second round after he sent his opponent crashing out of the ring, where he was then counted out.

Pineda forced Matthews against the ropes with a number of punches before the latter fell between the first and second ropes – landing on the judges’ table.
The Mexican wildly celebrated as Matthews eventually got back to his feet and walked backstage after the disappointing loss.
YouTuber KSI – who is the CEO of Misfits Boxing – could be seen congratulating Pineda after the fight.
KSI who suffered his first defeat to Tommy Fury at Misfits 10, previously defeated Pineda and rapper Swarmz on the same night back in July 2022.
After Pineda’s victory, KSI tweeted: ‘Yoooooo, Pineda knock him outta the ring and onto the judge’s table!!!! Broooooo.’
At a press conference to promote Misfits 12, KSI confirmed he will fight again this year.’
He said: ‘I will fight this year, but, I won’t say who.’
