Dane Swan basked in his triumphant professional boxing debut after defeating Dale Thomas via unanimous decision in Adelaide.

Collingwood legend Swan, 40, showcased his impressive pugilistic skillset to secure points victory over the course of a one-sided four rounds, claiming he had only been hit once.

Unsurprisingly, attention has turned to Swan’s next move, with a world of opportunity ahead of him in the boxing world.

But the former Pie insists he will only return to the ring for the right price.

‘Boxing is way harder than what we do,’ he said. ‘I tip my cap to the people who do this for a living. I’m happily retired but money talks I guess.

‘Win or lose it takes some balls to get into the ring.

‘Whether I fight again or not I’m still going to box I’ll still spar, because I really enjoy it. I’m very happily retired undefeated.’

Reflecting on the four rounds, Swan was overjoyed to put into practice what he has been learning in the gym.

‘That felt good mate,’ he said. ‘Couple of nerves before I got in there but once the bell goes it’s just like footy – you forget about the crowd and you do what you’re trained to do.

‘It was good, I really enjoyed it. I could have gone a couple more rounds.’

As for the immediate future, Swan is focused on celebrating – although he may find it tricky to go wild on weeknight in Adelaide.

‘I dont know if Adelaide on a Wednesday night compares to Vegas but we’ll make the most of the situation we’re in,’ he said.

‘I’m going to sink as many beers as I can, I’ve got a few mates over here so we’ll have fun in a cupboard if we have to.’
