ACC rivals pile on Virginia Tech losing to Old Dominion again

ACC rivals couldn’t contain their raucous laughter as Virginia Tech was upset by Old Dominion for the second time since 2018.

Somewhere along the way, Virginia Tech got really bad at football. And their ACC rivals think that’s hilarious.

On Friday night the Hokies got their 2022 season off on the wrong foot when they lost to Old Dominion.

This wasn’t exactly an earth-shattering result. ODU upset Virginia Tech in 2018 as well. That was under Justin Fuente, who was fired in 2021.

Now the Hokies have to come to terms with the fact that new head coach Brent Pry has an uphill battle to turn things around.

Rivals in the ACC won’t let them forget it.

Many are saying that William & Mary has, at the very least, the best football team in the Commonwealth. And Virginia Tech has the worst.

Virginia Tech is in a bad place. that program turned into Syracuse so gradually nobody even noticed.

Virginia Tech fans didn’t sound much more positive.

The upset created a prime example to make all the elevator jokes possible.

Virginia Tech coaches were stuck in an elevator on their way back to the press box at half time and the game had to be delayed.

Receiving reports that Virginia Tech broke the elevators on purpose to stop a program in free fall.

Virginia Tech has accounted for 100% of Old Dominion’s all time Power 5 wins. Monarchs are now 2-0 against the Hokies.

The Hokies probably wished that would be the worst setback of the night but it clearly wasn’t. Though they tied the game 10-10 after halftime and then took a 17-10 lead before the third quarter was over.

They had trouble finishing though. The Monarchs scored the last 10 points of the game including the game-winning touchdown with 33 seconds left.

It was a home game for ODU, so fans stormed the field in the aftermath to celebrate their big win.

The Hokies will have to try to bounce back next week against Boston College. Losing their “easy” game doesn’t bode well for the rest of the season though.
