Taylor Booth has been on form for FC Utrecht this season and is attracting the interest of bigger clubs in the Netherlands including Ajax and PSV Eindhoven.

Booth has two goals and three assists in 18 games this season in the Eredivisie. He has also been the subject of interest from Manchester United.

Transfer expert Ekrem Konur has revealed that “Ajax and PSV Eindhoven scouts will watch Utrecht’s 21-year-old USA player Taylor Booth during the match against NEC Nijmegen.”

According to the Dutch website VI the “chances that Taylor Booth will still play for FC Utrecht after this summer is small. Clubs from the Dutch top division but also from the more significant European leagues have expressed their interest directly or indirectly.

“Booth appears on various lists in Spain and England. Interested clubs better hurry. A team currently active in the Champions League is willing to go far for the midfielder.”

Would Taylor Booth be a good fit for Ajax or PSV?

Ajax and PSV are both Dutch clubs with a lot of history. Ajax has been victorious in the European Cup four times, whilst PSV has won it once. Booth has yet to play in the Champions League or the Europa League and will have a better chance of doing it at either club.

Currently, Utrecht are in seventh place but Ajax and PSV are second and fourth respectively so will have a better chance at playing in Europe next season.

Booth would also be more likely to lift silverware if he moves to a better team in the Eredivisie. He only has one trophy in his cabinet, which was the German Third Tier he won with Bayern Munich II.

Or would it be better if he goes to a better European league?

Booth has proved he can perform in the Eredivisie, so may feel that it is time to test himself in one of Europe’s top five leagues. He only made one appearance for Bayern and that came in a cup competition so is yet to taste league action at the highest level.

Manchester United manager Eric ten Hag is an admirer of Booth so a move to England could be on the cards. Ten Hag has shown that he does give chances to young players, so a move to the Red Devils could be a good fit.

However, United are having a mixed season. They have won the EFL Cup but have recently been brought down back to earth by Liverpool who thrashed them 7-0.

It may be better to move to a club with a bit more stability. A move to another team in the Premier League or La Liga or back to Germany might be a better option depending on the club.

The U.S. men’s national team will be hoping that Booth will be one of their stars in the future. He is yet to play for the USMNT but has been on the bench for a match against Bosnia and Herzegovina.  He is also eligible to play for Italy, so the USA needs to hand him his debut soon.
