Billy Dib has revealed he has been cleared of cancer with an emotional social media post just days after telling his fans he hoped to receive good news.
The 37-year-old was diagnosed with an aggressive and rare form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma late last year and began chemotherapy treatment at Sydney‘s Westmead Hospital, with well-wishes pouring in for the former world champion.
And in a Twitter post on Monday, Dib revealed he had received the all clear from the doctors with a short clip of his son Laith holding a sign reading ‘Hi guys, my dad is in remission’.
Dib wrote on Twitter: ‘AlhamdAllah (thanks to God), I received the most beautiful news today. My scan came back clear of cancer.
‘I am so grateful, blessed, happy and relieved. Thank you God, my health team, my family and all of you, for your prayers, encouragement and support to help me get here.’

Last week, the former world champion revealed he would undergo a scan to discover whether he was in remission on Monday.
‘Where I’m at currently is I’ve finished four rounds of chemotherapy. With the permission and the grace of God, I’ve managed to get through that,’ he said.
‘It’s been a very, very difficult task – one that I wouldn’t wish upon my worst enemy – but we’re here now and God willing on March 6 I will be doing a PET scan and it will either deem me in remission or onto the next round.
‘I’m super excited and hopeful that I am going to be in remission. There is so much I want to do in life and this has obviously been a really difficult time in my life. I’m grateful, I know everything happens for a reason and God has chosen me for a reason.
Dib lost his first wife, Sara, in 2016 due to complications stemming from her leukemia treatment. The pair brought forward their wedding to two weeks after her diagnosis and she died just six weeks later.

The champion boxer has since remarried, to wife Berry.
Dib last fought in March 2022, beating Jacob NG on the Gold Coast to claim the IBF International and WBO Oriental lightweight titles and improve his professional record to 48-6-2 record including 27 wins by KO.
The Australian held the IBO super-featherweight title in 2008 after beating Zolani Marali by unanimous decision and claimed the IBF featherweight world title in 2011 by beating Jorge Lacierva by unanimous decision.
Dib successfully defended the title twice before relinquishing it against Evgeny Gradovich in 2013, when he lost to a split decision in Connecticut.
