- American full of praise for Aussie
Enormous heavyweight contender Jarrell Miller scored a 6th round TKO win over Australian former world champion Lucas Browne in an entertaining brawl in Dubai.
Miller, who came into the fight at a career heaviest of 151kgs, claimed his first win of 2023 and third since returning from a extended hiatus from the sport following a failed drug test in 2019.
Browne was competitive early in the fight, but ultimately couldn’t compete with Miller’s volume and power.
‘Big Baby’ landed several unanswered right hands in the sixth round that sat the Australian down.
Browne beat the count, but a follow up attack from ‘Big Baby’ soon had the referee stopping the 10-round bout.

Miller is now 26-0-1 and recorded his 22nd knockout, while Browne falls to 31-4 notching up his fourth knockout loss.
‘Sometimes you can’t knock everybody out right away,’ Miller told announcer Tyron Woodley after the bout.
‘You know, I had off three and a half years and Lucas was the first game opponent that came in here [and] that I knew can crack. He’s stunned guys and was on a winning streak, so I knew if I couldn’t get him out in the first round, I had to take my time.
‘And just, you know, sometimes you been out the ring, the nervous energy’s there, the legs are not with you right away. But I felt comfortable. I just knew that I had to get my wind right and just start focusing and not getting hit with shots.
‘But like I said before, four [years] off, I’m fighting an ex-champion, he’s game. Nothing but love and respect for Lucas.’
In 2019, ‘Big Baby’ had racked up a perfect record across 18 contests and was set for the biggest opportunity of his burgeoning career when he was named as the opponent for Anthony Joshua’s US bow.
However, the former kickboxer would ultimately test positive for banned substance GW501516, with further tests also detecting EPO and HGH leading to Miller being issued a ban by the New York State Athletic Commission.
Joshua would instead go on to face Andy Ruiz Jr on short notice, with the unheralded Mexican shocking the world by rising from the canvas to stop AJ in the seventh round.
