The Big East descends on Madison Square Garden in New York City for a week of tournament action.

The conference has been loaded with high level all season, headlined by Marquette, who finished in first placed despite being a long shot to do so in the preseason, sitting around 45-1 to win the regular season title.

Can Marquette cap off a dream season with a conference tournament title as well? There are plenty of elite foes in the conference that have shorter odds than the Golden Eagles, including UConn and Creighton.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Big East Tournament.

The Big East tournament gets started on Wednesday, March 8 with a first round triple header, starting at 3 p.m. EST between St. John’s and Butler.

Each round will be televised on Fox Sports 1 until the Finals on Saturday, March 11, which will be broadcast on Fox at 6:30 p.m. EST.

Big East Conference tournament prediction and pick

UConn is the favorite despite being the No. 4 seed and a possible semifinal matchup against Marquette on tap. The two split their season series, but the Huskies are rated higher in services such as KenPom and will be favored on a neutral court game if that matchup pans out.

However, I’m looking to avoid that matchup and target the bottom half of the bracket, where Creighton sits as the No. 3 seed. The Bluejays did slip up against possible semifinals opponent Villanova on the road on Feb. 25, but Creighton has the far easier path considering Xavier will not be getting star forward Zach Freemantle back from injury after he opted for season ending foot surgery over the weekend.

Creighton had the best defense in Big East play, centered around big man Ryan Kalkbrenner, and I like avoiding the top half of the bracket as the Bluejays will likely be favored by more than four points against Villanova and over a possession against Xavier en route to a title game appearance.
