Billy Dib provides update on his cancer battle as Sonny Bill Williams makes promise to Australian boxer:’ There is so much I want to do in life’
Billy Dib has provided an update on his cancer battle with the Australian boxer hoping to receive good news next week.
Dib, 37, was diagnosed with an aggressive and rare form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma late last year and began chemotherapy treatment at Sydney‘s Westmead Hospital, with well-wishes pouring in for the former world champion.
Sadly, it is not the first time Dib has had to deal with the heartbreaking reality of cancer.
Dib lost his first wife, Sara, in 2016 due to complications stemming from her leukemia treatment. The pair brought forward their wedding to two weeks after her diagnosis and she died just six weeks later.
The champion boxer has since remarried, to wife Berry, and the pair have a son, Laith.

And Dib has taken to Twitter to share an update on his cancer battle, revealing that he will undergo a scan to discover whether he is in remission on Monday.
‘Where I’m at currently is I’ve finished four rounds of chemotherapy. With the permission and the grace of God, I’ve managed to get through that,’ he said.
‘It’s been a very, very difficult task – one that I wouldn’t wish upon my worst enemy – but we’re here now and God willing on March 6 I will be doing a PET scan and it will either deem me in remission or onto the next round.
‘I’m super excited and hopeful that I am going to be in remission. There is so much I want to do in life and this has obviously been a really difficult time in my life. I’m grateful, I know everything happens for a reason and God has chosen me for a reason.
‘Please guys, keep me in your prayers. March 6 is a really big day for me and my family and God willing I will be cancer-free and back to being me.’
Dib has received widespread support from the boxing world and met up with Sonny Bill Williams on Thursday. The New Zealander revealed the promise he has made to Dib amid his cancer battle.
‘Great to see my brother in such good spirits,’ he posted on Twitter alongside a picture of them together.
‘I won’t forget our deal my bro, when you beat this we are fighting on the same card.’
