Cardinals manager Oli Marmol calls out Mets for throwing at Nolan Arenado

After all the shenanigans between the New York Mets and St. Louis Cardinals, Oli Marmol shared his thoughts and sounded off on the incident.

It’s probably pretty safe to say the New York Mets and the St. Louis Cardinals aren’t all that fond of each other right now. After a pitch got a little too close to Nolan Arenado, benches cleared and a brawl ensued between the Cardinals and Mets.

It was an absolute mess and it sure seems like Oli Marmol, the manager for the Cardinals, isn’t all that fond of what led to the brawl.

“I don’t think anyone in the big leagues appreciates getting thrown up top,” Marmol said. “Nolan [Arenado] has every right to react the way he did and go after him and we’ll protect that.”

Here’s more of what Marmol had to say following the incident.

Cardinals Manager Oli Marmol said he “took exception” to how the Mets threw up and in to Nolan Arenado

He’s not all that happy. Clearly.

Of course, the Mets are more than familiar with what it’s like to have a pitch hurled at a batter in an uncomfortable manner. They’re more than familiar with what it’s like to actually get hit by a pitch as they’ve had a number of individuals get hit in the head so far this season.

The Mets were the focal point of the first few games of the season as multiple batters were hit by pitches in a matter of innings just a few weeks back.

Heck, MLB has had to issue a statement on the matter. The Mets know what it’s like to get hit by a pitch this season.

The Mets aren’t enjoying any of this either!

There’s a very good chance that Marmol is actually preaching to the choir a bit when it comes to the whole “don’t throw the ball at our players, please” sort of movement that’s going on right now.

Unsurprisingly, Buck Showalter, the manager of the Mets, also had some strong words following the incident.
