Chiefs fan ruptured his Achilles celebrating Super Bowl win on Sunday

A Chiefs fan got a little too carried away on Sunday after the Super Bowl victory but claims it was “totally worth it.”

Congratulations are in order for the Kansas City Chiefs, who defeated the Philadelphia Eagles, 38-35 in Super Bowl LVII.

Condolences are also in order for one particular Chiefs fan who got himself badly injured celebrating a game-changing play.

In the fourth quarter, Chiefs wideout Kadarius Toney returned a low punt for 65 yards, juking out Eagles’ defenders on the left side before pivoting and sweeping down the right side of the field with his team’s blockers paving the way.

The Chiefs found themselves deep in Eagles’ territory after that crazy punt return and quickly scored a touchdown after three plays. Kansas City has ex-New York Giants speedster Kadarius Toney to thank for securing prime field position, and one fan took to Reddit to share just how happy — and injured — he was after Toney’s play.

One loyal Chiefs fan suffered a painful injury while celebrating Super Bowl

Clad in a Patrick Mahomes jersey, of course, the fan posted a picture of himself on crutches with his left leg in a boot. His two dogs surround him and look up at his giddy smile, likely still dazed and confused at the lengths their owner went to celebrate a single play.

Toney didn’t even score the touchdown on the end of that drive but did metaphorically break several defenders’ ankles, so perhaps it’s only fitting that this fan got himself injured while watching Toney on the screen.

It’s not clear exactly how he hurt himself, but one would imagine he engaged in a livelier celebration than simply jumping off his couch.

The dedication is admirable — for a Chiefs fan, at least. Had the Eagles won the Super Bowl instead, we’d imagine their unhinged fanbase would be suffering from a lot worse than broken ankles or tendon tears.
