Chris Eubank Sr and Simon Jordan went head-to-head in a heated exchange on talkSPORT on Thursday, as they discussed the possibility of Conor Benn finally facing Chris Eubank Jr this year.

Benn and Eubank Jr were scheduled to fight in October 2022, only for the grudge match to be called off just two days before after the former failed two drugs tests.

Benn is still trying to clear his name, and tried to reschedule the bout at the turn of the year, but the two parties could not come to an agreement, and he will now take on little-known American Peter Dobson this weekend.

There is still the potential for the fight to finally be arranged, but Eubank Sr is completely against it as he wants his son to move up to 168lbs for the latter stages of his career. The British boxing legend previously claimed he would do everything in his power to stop that fight, while putting the case forward for his nephew, Harlem Eubank, to face Benn instead at welterweight.

Jordan is not convinced that clash is on the cards, which riled Eubank Sr as he accused Jordan of being ‘two-faced’ and suggested that he had kept changing his mind on whether he wanted to see the Eubank Jr-Benn fight. But Jordan was having none of it and hit back as the pair went at it live on-air.

‘I’ve always been in total agreement with you. Either you haven’t listened or I haven’t made it clear. I have always been in total agreement with you about that fight (Eubank Jr-Benn),’ Jordan insisted.

Eubank Sr retorted: ‘When we last had that interview on your show Up Front, you said this: “so you’re going to stop it are you? How are you going to do that?”‘

Because what I thought what you were saying is ridiculous, and I still do,’ Jordan replied.

‘Now the third face or the second face shows,’ said Eubank Sr.

‘No it doesn’t, it’s the same face. You just don’t like what I’m saying,’ Jordan responded.

‘I have never agreed that your son should be fighting Conor Benn, never agreed with that. Never. I thought it was a bad fight for both of them.

‘My point is the Harlem Eubank fight against Conor Benn doesn’t happen for two reasons. The economics aren’t there, you may think you can get them, and Conor Benn has a serious problem about trying to overcome the British Board of Control’s wishes because they’ve gone to the public domain with them.

‘Now, I hope he does. Then if he does, then we can have that conversation. At no point have I ever said you son should fight Conor Benn at 160. I thought it was a freak show of a fight. Always thought it was. So listen, because I’ve said it repeatedly, and we’ve discussed it repeatedly you and I on two separate occasions.’

Eubank Sr refused to back down.

‘We haven’t discussed it repeatedly, and again, you talk out of two sides of your face.

‘I know what you are. He’s a journalist trying to get traction in the world of gladiators.’

Jordan briefly laughed at this claim, but remained adamant that Eubank Sr was wrong about him.

‘I’m climbing on the shoulders of giants. Don’t be so bloody silly. I don’t need you for anything. If you’re going to make specific observations about people, then be right.’

‘If you’re saying you’re not a journalist then either I don’t know what the word journalist means or you are deluded!’ Eubank Sr added.

‘He paid me money to come to a studio and sit down for an interview. He’s a journalist!’

Eubank Jr is still looking for his next opponent after winning his rematch against Liam Smith in September.

He claimed in December that he had agreed to face WBO and IBF middleweight champion Janibek Alimkhanuly, but that fight has still not been confirmed.

Meanwhile, Harlem is unbeaten in 19 bouts and won his last contest against Germany’s Timo Schwarzkopf in November.
