Conor McGregor has hailed Dillon Danis’s performance during his defeat by Logan Paul in the boxing ring on Saturday night.

Paul was crowned the winner via disqualification after MMA star Danis attempted to tackle him to the ground with a jiu-jitsu move late in the fight.

It was a bout that drew criticisms from fans online, who said Danis was a ‘disgrace to boxing’ after the contest ended in a mass brawl in the ring in Manchester.

However, despite the opinions of supporters, Danis does have one supporter singing his praises – in the form of the UFC‘s former featherweight and lightweight champion.

Directly after the fight, McGregor insisted that he was ‘impressed’ by Danis’s boxing abilities but now the Irishman has gone further and claimed he’s ‘proud’ of the American’s performance.

On Monday, Danis took to X to say: ‘Just an appreciation post for my brother. I have learned so much from him in my life and he always has had my back through everything.

‘He is the greatest fighter of our generation and I’m blessed to call him my brother. I could go on for paragraphs about what this man has done for me but just wanted to say, love you, my G. Got your back till the end.’

Danis also shared an old picture of himself with McGregor – who he has trained with since 2016.

The Irishman was quick to respond, as he posted: ‘Proud of you Dillon! You built that card tremendously and went out swinging!

‘4x jiu jitsu world champion with the bottle to go into Pro boxing in front of the world. Chalk it up to the first time ever in history that has been done! Well done brother! Onwards!’

After months of build-up, many were left unimpressed with Danis’ performance against Paul and insisted that the American jiu-jitsu star was an ’embarrassment’.

Paul pummelled Danis with a series of combinations in the one-sided bout that saw the fight eventually brought to its end when the former MMA combatant attempted to perform a guillotine takedown.

Elsewhere on the night, McGregor also called out KSI – who suffered a unanimous decision defeat by Tommy Fury after Danis’s bout with Paul.

‘Ya know what. Me and KSI is an exciting fight. A juicy nixer I used to call them back when I was a plumber now I’m on the lambo yacht he’s in a huracan,’ he wrote.

It is not the first time McGregor has called out KSI, as he also aimed a verbal attack towards him when the pair were ringside for Anthony Joshua‘s victory over Robert Helenius in August.
