Jason Kelce is coming back for another season of Philadelphia Eagles football greatness.
After much thought and deliberation, Jason Kelce is not ready to hang up the spikes just yet.
The future hall-of-fame center will be returning to the Philadelphia Eagles for another season. The former sixth-round pick out of Cincinnati has spent his entire 12-year NFL career in the City of Brotherly Love. Kelce is a six-time Pro Bowler, a five-time All-Pro and a Super Bowl 52 champion. May he be able to lead another Eagles championship parade dressed out in his mummers regalia.
It will be very hard for the Eagles to repeat in the NFC, but they do have one of the better rosters.
I want him to be happy, but I am more interested in the mummers day parade than anything else.
Jason Kelce is going to run it back with the Philadelphia Eagles one more time
For now, this has to be a year-to-year proposition for Kelce to keep playing. He is firmly in his 30s with a young family. Eventually, he is going to have to be focused strictly on dad stuff, but for now, he’s got a championship to win. The Eagles should be on a shortlist of teams who can realistically hoist the Lombardi Trophy next February in Las Vegas. It’s hard to pass up that kind of opportunity.
Then again, wouldn’t the Eagles be seen as a major regression candidate in some people’s eyes? There is usually one team who suffers from the Super Bowl hangover. Do you think it will be the Chiefs? More importantly, the Birds have lost both of their star coordinators to head-coaching gigs of their own. Jonathan Gannon takes over in Arizona, while Shane Steichen heads to Indianapolis.
Regardless, it is cool to see Kelce be able to play out the twilight of his illustrious career on his terms. Most players don’t get to do that, much less former sixth-round picks out of Cincinnati who play along the offensive line. Kelce should never wear another uniform in the NFL. He will go down as the most important player in recent Eagles history, alongside defensive lineman Fletcher Cox.
If Kelce is to go out on top, you and I both know that we need a mummers day parade sequel.
