Youtuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has revealed that he has been left ’emotionally hurt’ after losing his grudge match with Tommy Fury.

The American online sensation lost by split-decision as Fury – the brother of world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury – inflicted a first career defeat on Paul’s record.

Now Paul has revealed that the fight has taken a toll on his emotions, despite the event being a ‘massive success’ watched by millions around the globe.

Tweeting in the days following his loss, Paul tweeted: ‘The business of the event was a massive success.

‘Doesn’t mean I’m not emotionally hurt by the loss. But I am not going to sit here and sulk.

‘I am going to use that hurt to fuel my path forward to never feel this way again,’ he added.

The 26-year-old was beaten after eight rounds of action in Saudi Arabia as former Love Island contestant Fury emerged victorious.

Paul produced a decent showing having only taken up the sport at the age of 23 and downed Fury with a jab that the Englishman protested was caused by a slip.

It was confirmed after the bout that Fury would be inducted into the WBC’s official cruiserweight rankings following his win that also saw him claim a belt that had been fashioned by the body just for the fight with Paul.

Critics have slammed those involved in putting on the fight for ruining the professionalism of the sport given the rise in YouTubers trying to start boxing careers, but Paul and Fury won’t be concerned after both cashed in on big paydays.

Despite losing, Paul claims he won £25m as a result of the fight while his opponent reportedly received a still impressive but more modest figure closer to £5m.

The duo could rematch each other after Paul indicated he wanted to activate that clause of their contract.
