Jalen Ramsey is so hyped to be linking up with Xavien Howard on the Miami Dolphins.

Recently acquired defensive back Jalen Ramsey spoke glowingly about playing alongside Xavien Howard in the Miami Dolphins‘ secondary.

Ramsey said at the podium on Thursday in his introductory press conference upon joining the Dolphins that “On paper, this is best group I’ve been a part of, but we still have to go prove it.”

Keep in mind that Ramsey was a star on the 2017 Jacksonville Jaguars and the 2021 Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams. Those teams had outstanding defenses, but no doubt about it, he and Howard are arguably the best cornerback tandem in football. With Mike McDaniel entering year two after a promising first NFL season, Miami looks to be building something special, alright.

You can see in Ramsey’s face how genuinely happy he is to be back in Florida playing for Miami.

Ramsey may be a Nashville native, but he did play his college ball in-state over at Florida State.

Jalen Ramsey hypes of Miami Dolphins secondary after being traded there

Obviously, there is a lot to like about Miami entering 2023. The Dolphins clawed and scratched their way into the postseason the year prior. Although they were the No. 7 seed, they gave the arch rival Buffalo Bills all they could handle on Wild Card Weekend. Not bad for a team that has rarely made the AFC playoffs this century. Adding Ramsey signifies that this will not be a one-off.

With Buffalo having Josh Allen in his prime, the New York Jets hopefully trading for Aaron Rodgers and the New England Patriots giving Mac Jones an actual offensive coordinator this time in Bill O’Brien, you better believe Miami needs to be solid in the back-end of its defense. Historically, the defense has not been the issue for them, but mediocre quarterback play since Dan Marino retired.

Not to say that we need to put all of our eggs into the Tua Tagovailoa basket just yet, but he appears to be more than serviceable, assuming he is healthy. The Dolphins took the third best quarterback in the draft class, but the 2020 group is an excellent one nevertheless. Should Jordan Love play up to his draft status with Green Bay, then the entire quarterback class could go 4-for-4.

For now, Miami got a future hall-of-famer still in his prime to absolutely thrive in their secondary.
