After returning and leading his team to a Game 3 win over the Miami Heat, Joel Embiid used the perfect meme to let the world know that the Philadelphia 76ers are back.
The Philadelphia 76ers were without star and NBA MVP favorite Joel Embiid for the first two games of their second round series against the top-seeded Miami Heat. Embiid had suffered a orbital fracture and concussion in Game 6 in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals against the Toronto Raptors. But with Game 3 on May 6, Embiid made his triumphant return to the Sixers’ starting lineup.
In his return, Embiid helped lead the 76ers to a 99-79 win over the Heat to cut their series deficit to 2-1.
After the game, Embiid took to Twitter and posted a popular meme from the hit show, The Wire, to let the NBA world know that the 76ers were “back.”

Embiid had already been banged up for the majority of this playoff. Early on in Philadelphia’s series against Toronto, Embiid suffered a torn ligament in his right thumb, which will require surgery at the end of the campaign. he then picked up the concussion and orbital fracture in the series-clinching game.
On the day of Game 3, reports indicated that Embiid had cleared concussion protocol and that he would see if he would be able to play after warmups. Sure enough, he was good to go.
In 36 minutes of playing time, Embiid scored 18 points (5-for-12 from the field, 8-for-10 on free throws) and grabbed 11 rebounds to secure a double-double.
The 76ers will look to even up the series with a Game 4 win on Sunday, May 8.
