Josh Naylor goes absolutely berserk after pair of clutch homers

Josh Naylor had a historic night for the Cleveland Guardians on May 9 against the Chicago White Sox after hitting clutch homers.

The May 9 game between the Cleveland Guardians and Chicago White Sox perhaps was the craziest in recent memory. Not only that, but history was made by Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor.

In the eighth inning, Naylor hit an RBI double to cut Cleveland’s deficit to 5-2. Then, with the bases loaded trailing 8-4, Naylor blasted a grand slam to center field to tie things up and send the game to extra innings. Finally in the 11th with Myles Straw and Jose Ramirez on base, Naylor hit another homer to center field to give Cleveland the 12-9 lead, which was enough to clinch the victory.

To say Naylor was pumped after his pair of home runs is an understatement.

Guardians: Josh Naylor makes history with impressive performance vs. White Sox

As you could see, Naylor was fired all the way up, as evidenced by his yelling and throwing of his batting helmet. Naylor had every right to be pumped up, because his showing against the AL Centrals rivals was historic.

Naylor is now the first player to record eight RBI in the eighth inning or later of a game since RBI became a stat in 1920. The first baseman has done something that no player has ever accomplished in over 90 years!

Following this performance, Naylor is now slashing .338/.370/.574 while recording four home runs, 21 RBI and 23 hits through 19 games.

The Guardians are now on a three-game winning streak, thanks in part to the heroic of Naylor on Monday night. Cleveland looks to officially take the three-game series against the White Sox with a victory on Tuesday, May 10. First pitch is scheduled to take place at 8:10 p.m. ET.
