Katie Taylor has said that claims the judges may be bias towards her on Saturday night are ‘complete nonsense’ and that she has ‘deserved’ to win every fight of her career so far.
Taylor will look to become an undisputed world champion in a second weight category on her Irish homecoming as she challenges Chantelle Cameron in Dublin on May 20.
On paper, Cameron is the reigning champion going into Saturday’s fight – having held the WBC title since 2020; the IBF and Ring Magazine titles since 2021; and the WBA and WBO titles since November 2022.
However, Cameron has said she is worried that the judges may be swayed by the Taylor name if the fight at the 3Arena goes the distance.
She worries the judges may be inclined to score the fight in Taylor’s favour given she is looking add an undisputed light-welterweight crown to her lightweight world champion title in her highly-anticipated first professional fight in Dublin.

When asked what she made of Cameron’s comments, Taylor said: ‘What can I say about that? Who cares really? Every fight was well won, well deserved so it’s nonsense.’
Taylor will take to the ring on Saturday night in what is being described as the biggest fight of her career.
She will put her undefeated record on the line and look to become a two-weight champion when she faces Cameron.
Taylor will also be taking part in her first professional fight in Dublin, with 8,000 Irish fans cheering her on at the 3Arena.
Taylor will be eager to put on a good show for the fans travelling from up and down the country to watch her.
When asked how Taylor had prepared for the fight given the magnitude of the occasion, Ross Enamait said nothing had changed.
Taylors’s coach said: ‘I wouldn’t say anything’s been different. I don’t really care where we fight, we just want to show up and put on a great performance and it doesn’t matter if it’s in Dublin or the middle of the desert.
‘We’ve had great sparring with bigger girls, we’ve been doing 15 rounds so I don’t really care what Chantelle Cameron weighs – it’s not a weight contest, it’s a boxing contest. It’s called boxing, it’s not called knockouts, we’re going to box.’
