This is when post time will be for the 2022 Kentucky Derby live from Churchill Downs.

There is nothing quite like the Kentucky Derby when it comes to the world of horse racing.

It is the first leg of the Triple Crown. The entire horse racing world comes together in Louisville, Kentucky to celebrate great spring weather, the majestic sport itself and all the traditions and pageantry that have become synonymous with it. As you need to do your best to pace yourself when consuming one delicious mint julep after another when is the post time for the derby itself?

It will be late into the evening, but the entire weekend is building up to this one-of-a-kind event.

When does the 2022 Kentucky Derby race actually start?

Post time of the 2022 Kentucky Derby will be at 6:57 p.m. ET. This will be the 12th of 14 races run at Churchill Downs on Saturday. Races start at 10:30 a.m. ET and will go until 8:30 p.m. ET at night. There is usually about a 45-minute to an hour gap between each race’s post time. Since the derby will not be until primetime on Saturday night, be sure not to lose all your money before then.

Given that this is the first leg of the Triple Crown, all eyes will be on the winner heading into the Preakness in Baltimore in two weeks’ time. Since this race involves three-year-olds, this will be the first time all of the entrants will be running a race this long. This is what makes this even so exciting, as anything and everything can happen on the horse track in Louisville on Saturday night.

Be sure to set an alarm for 6:57 p.m. ET on Saturday evening to not miss the Kentucky Derby.
