San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan just gave Nick Sirianni and the Philadelphia Eagles more bulletin-board material.

Kyle Shanahan and the San Francisco 49ers still have a bad taste in their mouths after losing the NFC Championship Game to the Philadelphia Eagles. That game, of course, took place months ago, and the 49ers didn’t have a quarterback.

Brock Purdy entered the game relatively healthy, but tore the ulnar collateral ligament in the elbow during the game, which greatly limited his ability to throw the football.

Because of this, Shanahan and the 49ers are excited for a rematch. It’s unclear who will start at quarterback for that game, especially given Purdy is still recovering from surgery, the team signed Sam Darnold and Trey Lance is still an unknown.

“I am glad we’re not playing Philly Week 1. I want to play them at a better time. I want to make sure our whole team is right there. … We feel like we didn’t get to do it last time, and I’m ready to go back again,” Shanahan said.

The two teams are scheduled to play Week 13, per the NFL.

49ers: Kyle Shanahan, players still unhappy with loss to Eagles

Just a week after San Francisco’s loss, they were already bitter. Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk stated he would bet against Philly in the Super Bowl if he could. Deebo Samuel has gone on the record suggesting he can’t wait for the rematch. Even kicker Robbie Gould had a bad Jalen Hurts take.

The defeat left a bad taste in their mouth, and it’s easy to understand why — there’s always that what if. What if Brock Purdy had remained healthy the entire game?

Unfortunately, we’ll never know, but the 49ers will get a chance to shut down the Eagles later this season. We’ll all be watching.
