Boxing legend Mike Tyson believes his career could have been even better if he had taken psychedelic drugs.

The 56-year-old went 50-6 in his boxing career but revealed he believes he could have done even better with the help of drugs.

Tyson joined the ‘TMZ Sports’ show on Friday and revealed he wished he had experimented with psychedelics during his career.

‘Psychedelics is an enhancement more than a de-enhancement,’ he said. ‘It allows you to go in that realm of just comfortability, relaxness, and prepare to reach your highest level. It’s just an amazing feeling.’

He revealed he used psychedelics during a recent training session and when asked whether the use of them would have made him more ‘dangerous’ in the ring, he responded: ‘Yes. Yes. A better fighter. I wish I did it in my prime.’

The icon also said he’d recommend mushrooms and weed to all athletes, claiming the is living proof that they work.

‘I’m capable of talking to everybody in the sporting world because that’s basically where it’s needed,’ Tyson said.

‘We always thought cannabis was a de-enhancer, made you tired, made you weak, but it actually made you more alert and more studious to your field, to your profession.’

NFL star Aaron Rodgers admitted during last year to using ayahuasca and continued to endorse it throughout the season.

The new Jets quarterback has already accomplished quite a bit, professionally speaking. The four-time MVP is a former Super Bowl winner and one of the most popular athletes in America’s favorite professional sport.

But, despite an underwhelming season with the Green Bay Packers last season,  Rodgers wasn’t feeling that same pressure to succeed in his lifetime, he explained.

Instead, Rodgers said, tripping has helped him to ‘see the other side,’ making ‘the idea of death more of a passage and less of an ending.’

Tyson also revealed Saturday that attending Jake Paul fight with Tommy Fury earlier this year has made him consider a return to boxing.

The former world heavyweight champion was in Saudi Arabia for the highly-publicized clash between Paul and Fury, serving as part of the promotional team.

Speaking on the Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson podcast alongside Ryan Garcia, the 56-year-old admitted that a return to active competition interests him particularly due to the limelight and attention a return would provide.

‘I just always wanted to be a fighter. That’s all I wanted to do my whole life was be a fighter, nothing else.

‘I miss this stuff, I didn’t think I’d miss it until I was at the weigh-in in Saudi Arabia for [Paul-Fury].

‘You miss being the center of attention.’

Tyson hung up his gloves as a professional in 2005 aged 38, following back-to-back losses to Danny Williams and Kevin McBride.

However, just months after announcing his retirement Tyson would return to the ring to stage a series of exhibitions alongside journeyman heavyweight Corey Sanders.

After the initial event in Ohio was poorly received the remainder of the tour was cancelled and Tyson would step from the sport for nearly 15 years.

Following a number of years outside the ring Tyson began sharing footage of himself working out with MMA trainer Rafael Cordeiro in 2020.

Tyson lost a significant amount of weight by restarting his famed training regime and returned to the ring for an exhibition bout against fellow boxing legend Roy Jones Jnr in 2020.

While the bout was entertaining for fans of the legendary fighters, Tyson appeared to be holding back during the eight-round contest but still seemed to bell well ahead by the time the bell rang, though the fight was controversially ruled a split draw by the judges in attendance.
