The Big Ten Conference Tournament gets underway today, and the second game tonight will be a showdown between No. 11 Nebraska and No. 14 Minnesota. The winner of the game will advanced to the next round to take on No. 6 Maryland.
Minnesota finished in last place in the Big Ten, going just 2-17 in conference play. Nebraska, on the other hand, went 9-11. The Cornhuskers also won both regular season meetings between these two teams.
Let’s dive into the odds for tonight’s Big Ten Tournament showdown and then I’ll give you my best bet.
Minnesota vs. Nebraska odds, spread, and total
Minnesota vs. Nebraska prediction and pick
Nebraska quietly ended its Big Ten regular season schedule on a hot streak, and I expect that to continue into the Tournament. It finished the year on a 5-1 run with wins over teams like Maryland and Iowa.
The Cornhuskers have also been hot with their shooting in their past few games, sporting an effective field goal percentage of 60.4% over their last three games.
They should be able to keep that shooting up tonight against a Minnesota team that’s 275th in defensive efficiency on the year.
The Golden Gophers also do a terrible job of creating extra scoring chances, while actually allowing their opponents to gain several. They rank 351st in the country in “extra scoring chances per game”, averaging -4.8 per contest.
That tells me that they play terrible fundamental basketball, and that’s not going to fly in the Big Ten Tournament.
I’ll lay the points with Nebraska.
