New Carolina Panthers Bryce Young and Miles Sanders combine for the nicest jersey numbers.

With Miles Sanders signing with them in NFL free agency and Bryce Young being the top pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panthers had some new jersey numbers to hand out, alright.

While mountains were made out of mole hills involving Young ripping the most sacred No. 9 away from Matt Corral, we were eagerly anticipating what number Sanders would rock in Charlotte. Although he wore the No. 26 jersey last year when he was with the Philadelphia Eagles, Sanders is going with the No. 6 in Carolina. Whether it is No. 6 or No. 9, it should be a good time!

Together, Sanders and Young look to take charge and win a very winnable NFC South this season.

Carolina Panthers are about No. 6 and No. 9 with Bryce Young and Miles Sanders

With Sanders and Young coming aboard, Carolina can definitely contend for division title in the lackluster NFC South. Even though I expect the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to fall off a cliff in the wake of Tom Brady’s second retirement, they did win the Super Bowl three years ago. As for the Atlanta Falcons and the New Orleans Saints, both could be better than teams picking inside of the top 10.

What this really comes down to is how well the Panthers play under new head coach Frank Reich. He was a well-respected offensive coordinator coming over from the Eagles, but his tenure leading the Indianapolis Colts devolved into a dysfunctional mess before our very eyes. Some of this falls on ownership and the front office, but some of it falls on him. Will Reich redeem himself?

Carolina was a terrible football team with Matt Rhule at the helm of it. Although the Panthers played out of their minds with Steve Wilks as the interim head coach, it was just not meant to be for him in Charlotte long-term. Ideally, Carolina will pair Young with Reich in the hopes of creating something special. Of course, Reich will be trying something new with a shorter quarterback here.

Ultimately, someone between Atlanta, Carolina and New Orleans will win about 10 games and claim the awful NFC South as their own. All four organizations in-division had major offseason changes. Whoever adapts the best and establishes an identity the fastest should come out on top. As long as Sanders and Young stay healthy in the Carolina backfield, the Panthers will have a shot.

Whether it is No. 6 or No. 9, look for single digits to make some noise in the Panthers’ backfield.
