Scott Satterfield may believe that Alabama football tampered with Tyler Harrell, but Nick Saban quickly and plainly denied that implication.
While Louisville Cardinals head coach Scott Satterfield appears to believe that there may have been some tampering regarding a former Louisville receiver, Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban isn’t having any of it.
According to a tweet from ESPN’s Alex Scarborough, Saban very clearly and plainly denied that anyone from the Crimson Tide coaching staff was involved with any sort of tampering involving former Cardinals wide receiver Tyler Harrell.
As Saban puts it, Alabama doesn’t “tamper with anybody.”
Nick Saban was asked today about Scott Satterfield implying Alabama tampered with former Louisville receiver Tyler Harrell. Saban said, “We don’t tamper with anybody.”

Harrell, of course, made the decision to transfer from Louisville to Alabama.

This is just the latest example of tampering being used as part of a discussion about a talented player potentially moving from one school t another and, with the way things look right now, this is almost certainly not going to be the last time one coach implies that another has participated in some rule-breaking.
Expect more and more of this conversation to be had as the college sports world tries to come to terms with everything that comes with having the transfer portal and NIL available for players to fully utilize.
More than likely, given some time, everyone will adjust to those tools being used and coaches will move on to complain about something else.
Of course, this isn’t the first time some coaches have been upset about natural changes in the way college athletics are structured. It wasn’t that long ago that coaches, including Saban, complained about the way certain types of the spread offense were creating disadvantages on the field. Now just about everyone has adjusted to that.
Some rule changes are going to be made, coaches and programs will eventually adjust, and some other buzz-worthy topic will come up.
