Oklahoma came into Saturday’s clash with Kansas after losing three straight games. The Sooners ended that losing streak but fans were still unhappy.
You would think that snapping a three-game losing streak would have Oklahoma Sooners fans in a good mood. And you would also think that ending that skid against a ranked opponent might actually have the Boomer faithful feeling optimistic moving forward.
However, Oklahoma went out and earned a 52-42 victory over No. 19-ranked Kansas on Saturday afternoon to do exactly what was just discussed and the reaction was nothing like what you’d expect.
In fact, there were numerous fans who were just downright unhappy despite the win.
Oklahoma football fans still not pleased with Sooners after win vs Kansas
The general sentiment was that Oklahoma’s biggest issue, the defense, still failed to show up, so what does the win really mean for the Sooners?

My point is Oklahoma has a pretty strong case for worst team if they are only being Kansas by 10. Defense is a wreck.

Oklahoma gets 700 yds of offense, scores 52, and Kansas only lost by 10.

Oklahoma offense bsck on track with Gabriel healthy. He’s a stud. But that defense is one of the worst around. Kansas is solid tho

And even if this user isn’t an Oklahoma fan, it does underscore where both the Sooners and Jayhawks are right now as programs in the 2022 season to perfection as they called it a bad loss for Kansas.
Kansas, despite their rise in the rankings to start the season, has been problematic defensively all year long. So for the Sooners to go out and put up 52 points in the win with Dillon Gabriel back at quarterback for the offense was all but expected. Yet, Brent Venables came to Norman with a defensive reputation from his time as the Clemson defensive coordinator. And this defense has been a sieve at virtually every turn.
Granted, this can still be a somewhat disappointing result and still an overall positive for Oklahoma. But if you ask the fan base based one the reaction from fans on Twitter, it seems like they aren’t buying this win as any kind of turning point for the Sooners.
