One individual bet $150,000 on the Arizona Wildcats to beat the Princeton Tigers in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. They took a hit.
Do you have the eye of the Tiger? One individual certainly doesn’t. They bet big money on Arizona and now have a big dent in their bank account.
The bettor put down $150,000 on the Wildcats to beat No. 15-seed Princeton. Following an upset, the No. 2-seed Wildcats are heading home, costing that bettor a hefty price.
Choosing the Wildcats seemed like a safe bet to win. They won the Pac-12 title over UCLA, and they looked the part of a team that could potentially find themselves in the Elite Eight against Alabama with a real shot at going to the Final Four.
Instead, the Ivy League reigns supreme, and tournament brackets across the country are BUSTED.
Arizona’s upset against Princeton cost one better, a hefty price.
Following the first half, with the Wildcats up by one, the Tigers had to be feeling a bit confident, knowing they had a good chance. But standard belief would have you believe that there was no possible way Arizona would fall that easily.
Yet, in the second half, the Ivy League representatives turned it on, outscoring the opposition 29-24.
Tosan Evbuomwan led the way for Princeton with 15 points, being the only Tiger to score double digits. That was enough to overcome the Wildcats’ Ąžuolas Tubelis (22) and Oumar Ballo (13). So what’s next for Princeton? They have a date with No. 7-seed Missouri after the Black and Gold Tigers took out No. 10-seed Utah State 76-65. It will be a battle of the Tigers with a berth in the Sweet 16 on the line.
Meanwhile, Arizona has to deal with one individual who is probably fuming at the result. Keep in mind someone bet $100,000 on Ohio State two years ago to win it all before they lost to Max Abmas and Oral Roberts. Betting such big money probably is an indication that the downfall is coming.
