The Braves got a positive outlook on Ronald Acuña Saturday, as the medical team considers him day-to-day. A significant setback would’ve been a worrying trend.

Atlanta manager Brian Snitker called the Acuña MRI the ‘best news possible’, and he wasn’t lying. Snitker and the Braves have been hovering around the .500 mark all season long in their World Series title defense, and much of that has to do with Acuña’s injury status.

“It’s the best news possible,” Snitker said. “There was nothing big. He’s just going to be day to day. I don’t know how long it will be. But there’s nothing from the MRI that showed he’s going to be shut down.”

Thankfully, Acuña’s knee hasn’t been the issue here, so there was no setback. Rather, he suffered a groin injury early in his comeback attempt.

“I haven’t had any reports about the knee,” Snitker said. “It’s just from all the running and sliding with the groin.”

It’s unknown if the Braves will even put Acuña on the injured list. Assuming he doesn’t suffer any significant setbacks on the groin, it may not be necessary.

Acuña was not in the lineup for the Braves Sunday morning matinee against the San Diego Padres. However, per Snitker’s optimistic viewpoint, he could return to the lineup in the coming days.
