Seniesa Estrada eyes undisputed clash with Yokasta Valle after fighting Tina Rupprecht… as the former Golden Boy star insists unifying her belts with a win over her former stablemate would be ‘so much sweeter’

  • Seniesa Estrada has set her sights set on an undisputed clash with Yokasta Valle
  • But American first has to defeat undefeated German Tina Rupprecht on Saturday
  • Estrada has a perfect record across 23 professional bouts since debuting in 2011

Seniesa Estrada has set her sights on a unification bout with Yokasta Valle, should she defeat Tina Rupprecht on Saturday.

Estrada has emerged as a burgeoning star of women’s boxing in the minimumweight division, and will look to add the WBC title to her collection when she faces 4ft11 Rupprecht at the Save Mart Center in California.

Despite possessing a size advantage against her German opponent, Estrada insisted that she would not be taking the challenge lightly.

‘Stylistically she is difficult to fight because she is a very short fighter and believe it or not a lot of us fighters don’t like to fight fighters who are that short and that much smaller than us because it’s actually harder to fight someone that much smaller.

‘They fight a certain way and it’s harder to land clean shots on them, it’s harder to land clean shots on the outside or even up the middle because their guard is always so high and tucked in, and their forearms kind of cover up their whole torso. So it’s easy for them to have a defence that’s hard to break through.’

‘That’s one thing I’ve been working on in camp, getting her to break that stance and break that defence so that I can counter her with shots that she’s vulnerable for when she makes mistakes.’

Estrada believes a win over Rupprecht would allow her to set up a long-awaited grudge match with Yokasta Valle:

‘It’s a great fight to put on. Two fighters who really now don’t really like each other, just because there has been some back and forth between us, with her saying that I’m scared to fight her – which is not the case at all because I’ve been trying to make the fight for years now, but for whatever reason it hasn’t been able to be made.’

The 30-year-old was previously promoted by Golden Boy before an acrimonious split last year, and Estrada revealed facing off against a former stablemate in Valle would only add extra incentive for victory.

‘Winning that fight would be super meaningful for me, not just because I wanna beat up Valle and show that I’m the best, but of course not only am I beating Valle but I’m beating Golden Boy. What’s better than that?

‘[On beating Golden Boy] so much sweeter! I have so much pride that I’m just like, there’s no way she’s gonna defeat me and there’s no way Golden Boy is gonna be smiling after the fight that’s for sure.’
