The San Francisco Giants can have a stellar offseason if they’re able to acquire any of these monster free agent targets.
The results were much different for the 2022 San Francisco Giants than they were for the team in 2021. They were able to stay in the playoff race early on in the season then saw themselves fall out of it for good before the trade deadline.
The Giants are in a transitional phase of their organization. This post-Buster Posey era can offer them some new heroes. It can go into full force this winter in free agency.
Already, there is speculation as to what the Giants could do. As far as monster free agents go, they are in competition for the most monstrous of all, Aaron Judge.
1. Monster SF Giants free agent target: Aaron Judge
In case you aren’t excited yet, Giants fans, let’s issue a reminder that Aaron Judge could be coming home to the Bay Area this offseason. After smashing 62 home runs for the New York Yankees, the giant right fielder could be coming to San Francisco to become an actual Giants player.
Offense was a major need for the Giants this past year. Other than Joc Pederson, they didn’t have quite enough power. For an organization that has employed Willie Mays and Barry Bonds in the past, it’s hard to envision too many Giants clubs without a true home run threat.
Judge solves this and more. He’s the kind of free agent you move other players to make room for. He would absolutely set them up for success now and in the future.
Nobody may have a better chance at signing Judge away from the Yankees more than the Giants. Do they take the leap and add the superstar talent to their roster? The franchise’s future could be completely rewritten if they do.
