New York Mets owner Steve Cohen wasn’t going to let a troll account take him down for some fake news regarding Steven Matz.

Twitter is a wild place and New York Mets owner Steve Cohen continues to see this first hand. Earlier in the week, an account presenting itself as a Mets beat writer claimed that Cohen had offered anyone on the team a new car if they hit a dinger off Steven Matz.

Not only that, the troll claimed that Cohen made this announcement while in the clubhouse with the team. That wasn’t the case, though, as Cohen put this person in their place with a perfect tweet.

Interesting given I’ve never been to St Louis

Steven Cohen shut down a Mets troll perfectly on Twitter

And that’s how you send false info to the moon in style. The fake reporter, listed as Mark Gooden, fooled countless people, including Cohen. He didn’t even tag the Mets owner, but Cohen saw this on his timeline and decided to let the world know things couldn’t be further from the truth.

This only adds to what’s been a head-turning season for the club, as they’re 14-5 on the year and in first place of the NL East. The other clubs have been struggling, which has been even better to see for the Queens faithful.

Cohen is obviously all smiles thanks to this hot start, as things didn’t go as planned for him in 2021. The Mets missed out on the playoffs despite spending big, but they’re ready to flip things in 2022.

The team is playing hot and Cohen’s game is on point for the Twitter haters as well. This is proving to be a year to remember already for the Mets and fans are hopeful things can keep moving in the right direction.
