A Texas football fan wrote an open letter to Arch Manning to try to convince him to commit to the Longhorns over Georgia and Alabama.
Fans across the country are wondering when and where quarterback recruit Arch Manning will commit.
He’s reportedly honed in on Georgia and Texas with Alabama also looming, but when it comes down to it, no one knows which way this recruiting battle will go.
So fans are taking it into their own hands to try to give Manning advice.
Texas football fan makes case for Arch Manning to commit to Longhorns
Here’s the letter one fan wrote to Manning on a Texas message board:
“Dear Arch commit or don’t commit, f***, even we don’t know if Ewers, Card or Murphy is the man. Maybe you would be? Odds would be one of these young men starts at least one year before you. Is that ok with you and can you learn and grow? Your uncles had very good careers in college. Not great as neither won a National Championship. However, they had stellar pro careers with two SB wins each. One uncle won with two different teams. The other beat the dynasty team of the century twice, the Patriots. Austin is a great town, young man. Can you win a NC? Maybe. I can say this, you will be loved here, but we are a fickle fandom. Over expectations are in abundance here. It will be tough, but you will be given a chance. The greatness is up to you. Good luck in your life young man.”
Credit is owed to that fan for being honest about what coming to Texas would mean. He could have the chance to resurrect a football power. At the same time, he’d have to shoulder the weight of the same expectations that have crushed the Longhorns in recent years.
To be fair, high expectations will follow Manning wherever he goes.
Manning is the No. 1 prospect in the class of 2023 per the 247Sports composite. He’s more than just a 6-foot-4 quarterback with natural ability, he’s also a member of one of the most successful football families. Archie Manning is his grandfather while Peyton and Eli Manning are his uncles.
While Peyton went to Tennessee and Archie and Eli went to Ole Miss, it looks likely Arch will forge his own path with the Longhorns, Bulldogs or Crimson Tide.
