Get familiar with welterweight Yohan Lainesse ahead of his UFC debut at UFC Vegas 53.
UFC welterweight Yohan Lainesse is a 170-pounder with plenty of highlights on his resume entering his UFC debut at UFC Vegas 53.
Lainesse will face Gabe Green on the UFC Vegas 53 prelims this weekend. He earned a shot in the UFC after a devastating knockout he earned against Justin Burlinson while competing in Dana White’s Contender Series.
Lainesse’s boxing is what separates him from most welterweight prospects in the UFC. His movement, combined with his strong boxing fundamentals, make him a dangerous opponent for a lot of fighters.
Lainesse made his professional debut at TKO Fight Night 1 in 2018, earning a first-round knockout against Yan Jacolin. He has won eight fights since and has dominated his opposition, particularly in the striking department.

After a brief tenure in TKO, he took a step up in competition and made the move to Cage Fury. He would go on to earn finishes over Lenny Rufati and Evan Cutts before getting the attention of UFC president Dana White.
Lainesse is a protege of former UFC veteran Patrick Cote at Brazilian Top Team Canada. Quebec has produced some of the top talents in MMA, including UFC legend Georges St-Pierre.
The 29-year-old has shown a lot of promise in his young MMA career, and Lainesse will look to make a statement this weekend. If he’s able to get a win over Green, he could prove to be a tough matchup in the welterweight division for years to come.
