USMNT roster: Ones to watch

Of course, this roster does not include the USMNT‘s best players like Christian Pulisic, Folarin Balogun and Gio Reyna. However, there is a lot of talent in this team and they will be vying to replicate their counterparts who lifted the Nations League trophy.

The squad includes goalkeeper Matt Turner who has been the USMNT’s first choice for some time now. He played at the World Cup in Qatar and recently in the Nations League fixtures. Whilst he only featured for Arsenal in the Europa League and FA Cup last season, Turner has kept his place with the Stars and Stripes and his experience will be key at the Gold Cup.

The experience in the side is further boosted by DeAndre Yedlin who played at both the 2014 and 2022 World Cups.

The forward line is very strong and includes established MLS strikers Jesus Ferreira and Brandon Vazquez. Both have been linked with moves to Europe and this is an opportunity right in the middle of the transfer window to put themselves in the shop window.

There are two players who shone at the U20 World Cup earlier this year in the squad, Cade Cowell and Gaga Slonina. Cowell scored three times at the tournament in Argentina and is expected to play European soccer in the future. Slonina has already made his move to Europe with Chelsea but he is yet to play for their first team. The Gold Cup will be a chance for both players to experience a senior international tournament.

B.J. Callaghan’s side includes players who know how to win the Gold Cup. Jordan Morris and Miles Robinson both scored winners in the final of the tournament in 2017 and 2021 respectively.

The USMNT’s group includes Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Trinidad and Tobago. Their campaign starts against Reggae Boyz on June 24.
