Former Minnesota governor Jesse Ventura narrated the opening montage of the Week 2 Monday Night Football matchup between the Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles.
Week 2 of the 2022 NFL season featured two games on Monday Night Football. The first game was between the Buffalo Bills and Tennessee Titans. The other was the Minnesota Vikings traveling on the road to take on the Philadelphia Eagles.
Ahead of the game in Philadelphia, ESPN aired a hype video that featured a voice mail being left on new Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell’s answering machine. The call was from none other than former Minnesota governor, actor and professional wrestler Jesse Ventura. Well actually, it was, as Ventura put it, “desperation calling.”

Ventura mentions that the Vikings have the offense. But also brings up how the Eagles have the Super Bowl title that they took from them. Of course, the latter is a reference to the 2017, where the Eagles defeated the Vikings 38-7 to advance to Super Bowl 52, where they defeated the New England Patriots 41-33.
So, yeah, no pressure Kevin after that pep talk.
After firing Mike Zimmer last season, the Vikings hired O’Connell to replace him. O’Connell was the offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams in 2020 and 2021, the latter of which they won Super Bowl 56.
The Vikings won their first game of the season, beating the rival Green Bay Packers 23-7 behind a 184 yard, two touchdown performance from star wide receiver Justin Jefferson. This was O’Connell’s first win as head coach.
