Detroit Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell delivered a resounding hype speech in the Lions locker room that makes us all want to run through a brick wall.

When the Detroit Lions hired Dan Campbell as their head coach, it was met with scrutiny from the ever-so-pessimistic public. Now, we get the decision.

Campbell is not afraid to be a discipline-minded coach or make his true feelings known and hype up his players. It goes back to his first press conference, and now in the locker room.

Recently on “Hard Knocks,” footage was caught of Campbell delivering the ultimate hype speech to his players following a last-second preseason victory over the Indianapolis Colts. What you hear will want to make you run through a brick wall.

“Winning is winning, and it feels good, man,” Campbell said during his speech. “And we needed to taste that, because that’s where we’re going. That’s what we’ve got to get used to.”

“We’re going up. We’re going places,” he continued. “Stay true to who we are and what we’re about. And if you guys do that, good things are going to happen for us.”

Where is the chance to try out for the team? We should all want to play for this man. Granted, we would be subjected to jokes by the social media world and analysts, given Detroit’s history of losing, but now, it looks as if Campbell has the team going in the right direction, at least mentally.

Dan Campbell delivered an unforgettable hype speech to the Detroit Lions.

Here’s the deal. The preseason doesn’t count, and Dan Campbell is well aware of that, as are the Detroit Lions. They went 4-0 in the preseason in 2008 and proceeded to go 0-16 in the regular season. The preseason is merely the chance for Campbell to see which 53 players buy into his methods and who needs to be let go and pursue an opportunity elsewhere.

Moreover, it’s about winning. As long as you win, it does not matter what you say. Additionally, with the style of football that Campbell is hoping to play, they will need to keep instilling the same intensity from the locker room on the field.

Dan Campbell looks like he is having his players play hard and play motivated. That’s all well and good, but the results have to come on the field, and the Lions will need to win more if they want to show some respect — and if they want to hear Campbell’s hype speeches on a more consistent basis.
