Renena Ferreira shattered the PFL heavyweight knockout record at PFL 2.
MMA fighters aren’t paid by the hour, that’s something fans found out the hard way at PFL 2 when Renen Ferreira took on Jamelle Jones in a heavyweight contest. A knee started off the events, staggering Jones and sending him to the ground. Despite Jones being more than likely already out, Ferreira took little to chance and hopped on down, and started pummelling Jones with a barrage of strikes to the head.
The fight was quickly stopped, and Ferreira was declared the winner, with the heavyweight getting six points to his season standing.
Officially the flight was 25 seconds long, and according to the broadcast, Ferreira set a record in doing so. He now holds the record for the fastest knockout in PFL’s heavyweight division history, and arguably, it should’ve been called five seconds sooner. Jones was out by the time he hit the mat, making those extra seconds truly unnecessary.
The knockout may set the tone for the main card, with the winner of the heavyweight tournament, Bruno Cappelozza being in the main event, and himself a prolific knockout artist.
