Anthony Joshua is arguably one of the biggest stars in boxing, and his success over the years has seen him become one of the top earners in the sport.

Since his professional debut in 2013, the Englishman has gone on to become a heavyweight world champion twice and has become a real household name in the division.

The last year has been tough for Joshua. The Brit was beaten by Oleksandr Usyk in his last fight. With that being said, the former heavyweight champion is still a marketable name in the sport.

Joshua returns to the ring this weekend against Jermaine Franklin as he looks to get back in the win column and earn yet another big payday.

But how much is he worth? And how much has he earned throughout his career? Sportsmail provides all of the answers below.

What is Anthony Joshua’s net worth?

In 2020, Forbes reported that Joshua’s net worth was £38.1million ($47m).

However, the Daily Star reported earlier this year that Joshua has amassed a net worth of around £120m.

Should Joshua win this weekend, the Brit’s net worth could increase quite a bit.

The Watford local has earned millions over his last 10 fights and it looks as if it could get better for the heavyweight.

An all-British showdown with Tyson Fury is still on the cards – with promoter Eddie Hearn exchanging contracts as early as next week

The potential clash with Fury is still arguably the biggest fight in the stacked heavyweight division. Should a possible showdown take place at Wembley, it is fair to say that Joshua will earn his biggest payday yet.

A lot of his financial success has come inside the ring. However, the former champion has picked up some lucrative sponsorship deals over the years.

It is fair to say that Joshua is a big presence on social media, with 15m followers on Instagram, 7.2m followers on Facebook and 3.4m followers on Twitter.

What are his career earnings?

Joshua’s breakthrough came at the London Olympics. He would win gold in super heavyweight before turning professional a year later. The Brit made his debut against Emanuele Leo back in 2013. Since his first outing against Leo, the Englishman has fought all over the world – earning big paydays along the way.

One of the biggest wins of his career came in 2017 when he defeated boxing great Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley. Joshua would go on to defeat Klitschko via 11th-round TKO. On that night, the Englishman picked up a whopping £15m.

In his first fight after the Klitschko bout, Joshua took a slight pay decrease. Against Carlos Takam, The Telegraph reported that the Brit earned £11m.

The biggest payday of his career so far came in the rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr back in 2019. Joshua would lose the first encounter via seventh-round TKO in what was the first professional loss of his career.

The rematch was dubbed ‘The Clash on the Dunes’ – with the Brit going on to outclass the Mexican and win via decision in Saudi Arabia. The former heavyweight world champion would walk away from the rematch with £66m

In his fight with Kurbat Pulev back in 2020, it was reported that the Englishman earned around £10m.

Following the win over Pulev, Joshua would fight Oleksandr Usyk twice. In the first meeting, Joshua earned £15m for the fight at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Brit would lose to the Ukrainian via decision.

In the rematch, it was confirmed that the Brit received a minimum of £33.2m. Joshua would go on to lose the fight via decision.

In total, The Telegraph reported that Joshua has earned roughly 200m throughout his career so far. The fight with Franklin is Joshua’s first since the defeat by Usyk.

Heading into his upcoming fight with Franklin, Sports Lens reported that Joshua could pocket £10m. The reported purse is nowhere near the amount he earned in the rematch with Usyk. However, many will argue that the fight is not on the same scale as Joshua vs Usyk 2.

Sponsorship deals

As well as his income in the ring, it is fair to say that the Brit has earned many big paydays outside of the ring.

In 2021, Joshua earned over £8m due to his deals with Under Armour, Hugo Boss, Land Rover and Jaguar.

However, in the subsequent financial year, up to February 2022, his endorsements fell, with his umbrella company 258 Management bringing in just £5,527,952. The drop-off amounts to around 35 per cent loss in endorsements.

Last year, the heavyweight left Sky Sports and signed an exclusive contract with DAZN that will see him earn another £100m over the course of five years with the company.

Speaking about the partnership, Joshua said: ‘I am entering a new phase in my career with a new training environment, new coaches and now a new broadcaster.

‘Negotiations at this level take time so I am pleased to have it all wrapped up and now I can fully focus on giving the fans and DAZN what they want, knockouts in the glamour division.

‘I’ve been working with DAZN and following its progress for a long time. We have enjoyed a really successful partnership in the US for many years and I know the team and understand the passion and drive of the business.

‘DAZN’s vision and passion to innovate is what attracted me to the partnership. They are leading the digital landscape in sport and the future of sports broadcasting. I am really looking forward to a long and successful partnership.’
