Breaking down the Zurich Classic payout for the PGA Tour’s lone team tournament on the schedule for the season to see how the purse is divided.

The annual trip to TPC Louisiana for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans is always a unique time on the PGA Tour as it’s the only team event on the schedule. Split up between Thursday and Saturday rounds of four-ball format alongside Friday and Sunday rounds of alternate shot, it’s a unique wrinkle on the tour schedule.

It’s also a wrinkle that Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay have taken full advantage of. The duo that got off to an inauspicious start a year ago came out blistering with a tournament record 59 on Thursday, maintained the lead on Friday, and then pulled further ahead on Saturday with a best-ball score of 60. The big question was if they could hold on.

The Zurich Classic payout is a bit different as the money is given to the team and then, as a team event, split into two. In essence, every player gets half of whatever they win as their share of the purse.

So how does that break down? Let’s take a look at the payout by finishing position and player for the Zurich Classic.

Note: The listed payouts are for the team. Each player will receive half of the listed total.

$2.3987 million$979,400$641,175$539,500$468,950$402,550$336,150$294,650$261,450$228,250$195,050$166,415$139,606$125,330$115,370$105,410$95,865$87,565$79,680$73,040$66,400$59,760$53,120$46,812$42,496$40,338$38,844$38,014$37,350$36,686$36,022$35,358$34,694

Schauffele and Cantlay were challenged early on Sunday as Billy Horschel and Sam Burns started to go on a hot run while the leaders were stuck in neutral a bit. That, however, set up a fun finish between two veteran teams of proven winners that added intrigue down in the bayou for the final round.
